Session description

Minecraft CTE City and Virtual Campus integrate Career Technical Education Pathways across all learning areas, including Manufacturing, Agriculture, Technology, Arts, Media, Hospitality, Business, and more. Participants will explore these immersive Minecraft worlds that incorporate CTE Pathways and complete designated tasks that teach learners about the college and career opportunities available.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of the creation of Minecraft (Career Technical Education) CTE City and Virtual Campus is to introduce students to viable career paths at an early age. These all-inclusive environments provide K-8 students ample opportunity to explore available industry sectors through engaging in industry-specific environments, builds, challenges, and activities.

Creating a K-12 pipeline for college and career readiness is a desire of educators across the nation. Minecraft CTE City and Virtual Campus can be downloaded, shared, and replicated by educators to be customized to meet their district's specific needs and outcomes.

Minecraft is accessible on every device, from PCs to Chromebooks, and now cell phones, making these worlds accessible to all. Additional pathways will continue to be integrated with the addition of esports build challenges and player-vs-player arenas, as well as further development of competitive gameplay with embedded interactive challenges in each industry sector.

As a Microsoft Innovative Education Expert, Minecraft Certified Educator and Mentor, a contributor to the creation of Minecraft Esports Toolkit, Minecraft Esports Competition Guide, and a Minecraft Esports Academy Expert, we know the value of esports in both the classroom and in an after-school program, for use as an educational explorative tool. We have created and fostered a competitive environment that serves as a motivator for explorative and investigative research in developing student interest and enthusiasm across a variety of educational areas, including literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, social/emotional learning, career exploration, and development of overall digital literacy, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
