Session description
Purpose & objective
To support parents who may be overwhelmed and ill equipped to support their children with learning that is technology enabled, participants in this session will explore profiles of some parents who need support, identify resources to help practitioners understand those adult learners, engage with open educational resources to help with parent’s growth, and consider next steps to support the capacity building of parents.
Outline
1. Learn about definitions and profiles of adult learners (inclusive of technology proficiency) - 15 minutes, presentation and discussion
2. Explore resources to help educators understand the adult learner - 20 minutes, device-based activitiey
3. Visit open education resources that can be shared with parents - 10 minutes, device-based activitiy
4. Discussion about next steps to connect session learnings to practice. 15 minutes, peer-to-peer interaction and group discussion
