Session description

This presentation unveils an innovative project harnessing AI chatbots to foster personalized learning, enhancing engagement and accessibility in education. Participants will discover how to employ AI chatbots to bolster student engagement by integrating a culturally diverse learning platform with standard-based learning exercises.

Purpose & objective

This presentation aims to provide information and hands-on experience with an innovative project that leverages AI chatbots to foster personalized learning, especially for students with disabilities. The presentation seeks to contribute to the broader discourse on advancing education to meet the diverse needs of all learners, thereby pushing the boundaries of current educational technology and practices.
The Objectives of the presentation include:
1. Participants will learn about the innovative use of AI chatbots in creating personalized, engaging, and accessible learning environments aligned to standards.
2. Participants will see the demonstrated success of this project on the college campus, showcasing how the innovation has bridged the educational divide for students with intellectual disabilities.
Participant Outcomes:
1. Participants will learn the basic skills required to utilize AI chatbots in educational settings to enhance engagement and accessibility.
2. Participants will understand the potential of AI Chatbots in educational settings to enhance student engagement and accessibility.

Outline

Materials needed: Computer, smartphone or tablet with internet access.

Welcome, and introduction (5 minutes)
Introduce presenters and topic
AI discussion and overview (5 minutes)
Provide information and examples of AI and chatbots, including a brief history of AI in the classroom.
Chatbots in education   (5 minutes)
Provide information on our experience with AI chatbots with students, including those with intellectual disabilities.
Implementation of the chatbot (5 minutes)
Explain how the chatbot can be used and provide examples     
Scenario Distribution   (5 Minutes)
Distribute pre-designed challenges to each participant (or group if there is a larger audience). These scenarios will represent diverse learning needs and situations in the classroom based on standards.
ChatBot Interactions   (10 minutes)
Participants will interact with the chatbot to navigate through the given scenarios. They will explore how the chatbot personalizes the learning experience based on the different learner profiles.
Group Reflection and Questions (10 minutes)
Participants will share their experiences in interacting with the chatbot and review the potential to address diverse learning needs.
