Gain valuable tips and tricks for implementing SEL and AI, empowering you to support the success of ALL students.

Purpose & objective

Overview:

The purpose of this presentation is to address the educational challenge of advancing educational equity for learners with diverse backgrounds through the integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). By exploring the use of AI technology in boosting reading and speaking fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy, educators will learn practical strategies to support students facing learning differences. The session aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for equitable access to educational technology and shape a shared vision for empowered learning.

Educational or Infrastructure Challenge/Situation:
The challenge at hand is to ensure educational equity for students with diverse backgrounds, including those with learning differences. There is a need to bridge the gap between students who may face barriers to learning and offer them equitable opportunities for success, regardless of their circumstances.

Technology Intervention:
The technology intervention in this session includes the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools specifically designed to support literacy skills and facilitate learning for students with learning differences. These tools harness the power of AI to enhance reading and speaking fluency, improve comprehension, and overall literacy outcomes.

Models Employed:
The session will highlight various models that showcase how AI and SEL can be employed to advance educational equity. This includes showcasing successful collaborations between SEL curricula providers and AI technology companies, leading to integrated interventions that support students' social-emotional development while leveraging AI capabilities to improve academic outcomes.

Lesson Plans or Instructional Activities/Strategies:
Participants will be introduced to a range of lesson plans and instructional activities that integrate AI tools and SEL principles. These activities will foster a learner-centered approach, empowering students to take ownership of their learning, develop self-awareness, social awareness, and make informed decisions. The instructional strategies will emphasize inclusive practices, differentiation, and personalized learning to meet the diverse needs of all students.

Instructional Electronic Resources or Tools Used:
Participants will have access to a variety of instructional electronic resources and tools that support the integration of AI and SEL. These resources may include AI-supported literacy platforms, SEL curricula, adaptive learning software, and other digital tools designed to enhance engagement, differentiate instruction, and promote equitable opportunities for all students. The main platforms of focus will be SuperDville and Bamboo Learning, however, we will also discuss other platforms such as Novel Effects, Perplexity AI, & Ideamapper.
