Session description

Conventional assessments often take the form of quizzes and tests that yield narrow, predetermined categories of data about students’ academic progress. But if we want an accurate look at what, how, and to what extent students are learning, who better to consult than the experts: the students themselves.

Purpose & objective

Participants will learn:
- how to engage students in the assessment process through goal setting, reflection, personal progress checking, portfolio and self-assessment.
- to create structures that put students in charge of what and how they are assessed
- how to assess student learning in a way that is equitable and aligned with content and skill standards and competencies
