Session description
Purpose & objective
Purpose: My presentation will showcase a transformative approach to language education that leverages technology and immersive learning environments. Participants will gain insights into the benefits of our approach and how it addresses the evolving educational landscape.
Objectives/Participant Outcomes:
Understanding Innovative Learning Environments: Participants will comprehend the concept of innovative learning environments and their significance in modern language education. They will recognize the advantages of moving beyond traditional classroom settings.
Appreciating the Power of Simulated Language Units: Participants will learn how simulated language immersion units, presented by the Israeli Café and Begood Clothing Store, provide authentic contexts for language learning. They will appreciate the value of real-world application.
Exploring Technology Integration: Participants will explore integrating technology tools like Quizlet and Worwall to enhance language learning. They will understand how technology supports language acquisition and improves pronunciation.
Recognizing the Role of Reflective Learning: Participants will recognize the importance of reflection as a tool for deepening language learning and engagement. They will understand how reflection is an integral part of the learning process.
Engaging in Hands-On Activities: Participants will mini-simulate the Israeli Café or Begood Clothing Store, experiencing the innovative learning environment firsthand. They will actively participate in activities, fostering an understanding of how students immerse themselves in language.
Educational Challenge/Situation: The educational challenge we address is the need for more dynamic and effective language learning experiences. Traditional classrooms often need help to provide authentic language use contexts, hindering students' language proficiency and cultural understanding. We propose an alternative solution.
Technology Intervention: My presentation introduces tools like Quizlet and Worwall, which enhance language learning through digital practice games and audio pronunciation support. These tools offer interactive and engaging ways to reinforce language skills.
Models Employed: I employ models of immersive language learning through simulated environments, fostering hands-on application and cultural understanding. This model goes beyond conventional classroom-based language instruction.
Instructional Activities/Strategies: I utilize hands-on activities, such as designing posters, creating digital games, and participating in simulated language units. These activities empower students to take ownership of their learning and actively engage with the language.
Evidence of Success: I will present data and anecdotal evidence demonstrating improved language proficiency, engagement, and cultural understanding among students participating in our simulated language units. This evidence showcases the effectiveness of our approach in addressing language education challenges.

Supporting research
The proficiency oriented language approach and classes should allow opportunities for students to listen, read, write, and speak (in) the target language. These opportunities should allow students to function at or slightly above their current level of proficiency in each modality. It behooves to familiarize with ACTFL’s Proficiency Guidelines.
ISTE standards- standards for the use of technology in teaching and learning.
