With a lifelong passion for technology and education, Brian has combined them both to create a company that is innovating technology education. His business career has journeyed through multiple successful startups, bringing innovative software and services to market. His experience as an educator ranges from cutting edge video training to the creation of technology camps for kids in addition to teaching in the high school classroom. Today, his company is both a video game publisher and creator of some of the most successful educational content for popular video game platforms including Minecraft, Fortnite and Unreal Engine.

Erik Leitner is the Education Content Producer for Cleverlike Studios, Inc., creating educational experiences inside of popular video games. A graduate of Florida Atlantic University, Mr. Leitner worked for Broward County Schools for 20 years; serving previously as a STEM and Computer Science Instructional Facilitator for the district, as well as a school-based science educator, science coach, and STEM coach. He is certified in K-6 Education, Middle Grades Science, Technology & Engineering, and K-12 Computer Science. A Global Minecraft Mentor, Erik Leitner continues to partner with NASEF to create and co-host many of their Minecraft and Esports competitions.
Session description
Help us save an old arcade by learning to code in Minecraft Education and building new video games. Join this hands-on coding session as we explore a new standards-aligned coding curriculum for Minecraft Education that packs the excitement of video game creation with step-by-step learning resources.
Purpose & objective
The goal of this presentation is to show educators an exciting new coding curriculum for Minecraft and have them experience it first-hand to grasp the power of the extensive learning resources available.
Participants will understand the GameCode curriculum for teaching computer science using Minecraft Education
Participants will engage in the learning activities to successfully learn coding concepts and complete a video game inside Minecraft
