Session description

Go beyond spreadsheets to unlock data's storytelling potential! This hands-on session introduces Looker Studio's intuitive features for no-code data visualization. Create interactive dashboards to explore datasets, identify trends and patterns, and build visually engaging reports to drive informed decisions. Take your data storytelling skills to the next level!

Purpose & objective

Purpose: To equip educators with the skills to utilize Looker Studio for interactive data visualization and dashboard creation to drive informed decision-making.

Objectives - Participants will:
- Understand the capabilities of Looker Studio and how it enables data-driven education.
- Learn how to connect data sources, customize models, and build charts/graphs.
- Create interactive dashboards with filters, drilldowns, and control options.
- Learn to communicate data insights to communities effectively

Challenges Addressed:
- Difficulty gleaning actionable insights from static reports or complex analytics tools.
- Need for agile edtech tools as learning environments rapidly evolve.

Technology Intervention:
- Hands-on use of Google Looker Studio - a customizable business visualization platform.

Instructional Activities:
- Short overview of Looker Studio capabilities.
- Guided walkthrough of creating a new dashboard.
- Discussion of dashboard designs and takeaways.

Evidence of Success:
- Participant ratings showing increased confidence in using Looker Studio.
- Ability to answer questions about Looker Studio capabilities.
- Creation of functional Looker Studio dashboards during the hands-on time.
