I have been teaching in the New Brighton Area School District since the Spring of 1996. I currently teach high school history. I have also been a Technology Coach, Keystone STAR, and Keystone Mentor. I am currently the Southwest Regional Director of the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology, (PAECT). I have presented at a number of edCamps, and regional and state educational technology conferences, along with ISTELive23.

Eric Verno is 6th grade math and science teacher at Dallastown Area Intermediate School in York, PA. He has been teaching for over 20 years. He also serves as the President of PAECT, an ISTE Affiliate. He is a Microsoft Innovative Expert and Google Certified Teacher. He is continually looking for ways to be creative in his classroom. He has most recently been involved in starting a Lego Robotics Team and incorporating Minecraft EDU into his curriculum.

Session description

Educators need to address students in a variety of ways. Podcasting in one such tool that can fulfill many needs within a classroom. This session will explain and facilitate the use of podcasts within a classroom setting. Attendees will be encouraged to begin planning to use podcasts in their classrooms.

Purpose & objective

The goal of this session is to facilitate educators towards creating and using podcasts in their classroom. There are many different types of podcasts and a variety of uses for them in a classroom setting.

This concept translates to student achievement by giving students ownership of published material and pride in the fact others are viewing their creations.

Outline

We will overview podcasts in general, encourage the sharing of how podcasts are being used in classrooms. Attendees are encouraged to begin planning out how they will incorporate podcasting in their own classroom. The presenters plan to broadcast a livestream podcast during the presentation to model the process.

Coming out of a pandemic, educators need to address students in a variety of ways. Podcasting in one such tool that can fulfill many needs within a classroom. This session will explain and facilitate the use of podcasts within a classroom setting.

Now more than ever it is important for students to begin building a positive Internet presence. This Poster Session will showcase published student work in a variety of formats and platforms while explaining the process of planning for the lesson, instruction, student creation, through publication of work. Free platforms will be emphasized.

Supporting research

There is plenty of research on the Internet in educational journals and mass media that explain the importance of meeting students through a variety of mediums, using primary resources, and how it improves the level of effort, participation, and achievement on the students’ part.
