Hi! I'm Larisa (pronounced Lareesa) Black. I am a co-founder of the EduGuardians Professional Learning Network, a virtual science teacher, and an AI Literacy Coach. I founded my business, Teach Wise AI, to assist educators in integrating AI into their classrooms effectively. This is a transformative period in education, and I believe it is crucial for all of us to engage in discussions and decision-making regarding AI in education. These tools hold significant potential to enhance learning, but it is essential to understand both their possibilities and limitations.

Session description

This playground will include a range of emerging technologies and their current impact in classrooms.

Purpose & objective

We will build on the success of the emerging tech playground last year. There are definitely lots of changes in technology and we need teachers to be comfortable/familiar with the tech, and district leaders to be aware of the changes and the potential impact on their schools.

Outline

A lot of tech could change in the next 7-8 months. ChatGPT is not even 12 months old and it is already having a major impact on schools and education.
We will build on the tech resources demo-ed in the playground last year, and include new emerging tech options for schools.

More [+]

Supporting research

Much of the emerging tech does not have supporting research. We have started to see a few studies show the benefits. Morehouse college should be back again this year to reinforce their research from last year and show some of the emerging research with neurodiverse students in virtual reality.
