Peak to Peak Charter School
Carla Flanhofer (she/hers) has been an instructor at Peak to Peak Charter School since 2003. She has been the recipient of an internal Innovation Grant for her work building VR simulations into her Psychology curriculum. She has presented PD sessions on topics such as using technological tools for 1:1 student writing feedback as well as utilizing structures in the classroom to increase active student engagement. She was a finalist for the 2019 Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year award and honored with a 2015 Jared Polis Foundation Award for her work implementing student-driven, project-based, and experiential learning.

Secondary French and Science Teacher
Peak to Peak Charter School
Ilse Meiler (she/her) is a secondary French and Science teacher at Peak to Peak. She holds her B.A in Chemistry and Russian Studies from Smith College. She is passionate about interdisciplinary research and has previous experience in virology, surface chemistry, organic synthesis, and translation studies. She is a passionate linguist, working in five languages. In the fall, she is continuing onto advanced studies to pursue her PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Session description

In this re-imagined lesson experience, participants will participate in an emulation of the cross-curricular, project-based learning we do in class, including developing an idea for VR program development. Participants will then be able to experience the original, student-developed VR program for this year's selected student design.
