Rebecca Kockler is the Executive Director of Reading Reimagined, an inclusive R&D project focused on unlocking the great reader in every child.
As the former Assistant Superintendent of Academics at the Louisiana Department of Education, Rebecca created a comprehensive, nationally recognized academic support model that provided teachers, principals, and districts resources and direct support to integrate assessments, curriculum, and teacher evaluation. As a result, achieved record-high rates in high school graduation, college enrollment, state scholarship eligibility, postsecondary credentialing, and ACT scores.
Rebecca began her career as a middle school teacher in New Jersey and now resides in South Carolina.
Session description
The market is inundated with niche solutions for subskills in literacy. There’s a fluency app, a vocab workbook over there, and a range of different assessments. Schools are left to piecemeal and duct tape solutions together. Too often students are left with a disjointed, incoherent experience. What would it look like to combine assessment, instruction, and intervention into a single offering? This is what we are creating at Magpie Literacy based on the research from Reading Reimagined. Find AERDF in the Bluebird Ballroom 2E.
