Session description

Learn scalable strategies for guiding teachers in using AI as an efficient time-saving tool for planning and prep. Walk away with a blueprint for providing hands-on PD experiences, a sandbox environment for exploring prompt engineering and supports for teachers in reframing assessments in a world with AI.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to equip education leaders with a scalable and practical guide for implementing AI training sessions for teachers, specifically focusing on prompt engineering with tools like ChatGPT. The session aims to demonstrate how AI can streamline teacher planning and prep, save time and increase productivity, and also how it can be leveraged to rethink traditional assessment methods.

Objectives (Participant Outcomes):
1. Participants are learning from an implemented blueprint for guiding staff in how to effectively use AI for teacher planning and prep purposes.

2. Participants will know how to engage with a "sandbox" communal environment where teachers can share discourse, ideas, have access to resources, and experiment with AI prompts.

3. Participants will learn how to reflect upon shifts that come from a world of AI and take steps in rethinking traditional assessments.

4. Education leaders will acquire effective strategies for discussing and scaling AI initiatives among their staff.

The challenge addressed is the overwhelming amount of time teachers spend on planning and preparation, as well as the need to make assessments more focused and meaningful, and how AI can play a role in assisting teachers in that process.

The presentation will focus on using ChatGPT for prompt engineering as a case study. ChatGPT is an AI-based conversational agent capable of generating human-like text based on prompts.

Participants will learn from a month-by-month strategic plan that will serve as the model for scalable AI implementation specific for use in teacher planning and prep.

The session will feature interactive elements including engaging with a "sandbox" environment for staff-discourse, resource sharing, AI experimentation, and a blueprint for monthly training sessions for teachers.

The plan has been tested in a series of training sessions with teachers.

By attending this session, participants will leave with actionable strategies and a clear roadmap for integrating AI into teacher planning and prep, thereby enhancing both teacher efficiency and student outcomes.
