Event Information
I will show how Exploring Computation Integrated into Technology and Engineering (ExCITE) project has worked to engage some 4,000 Technology and Engineering (T&E) students’ in Computer Science courses, and has trained some 160 T&E teachers to become prime providers of CS instruction in the nation’s schools Funded by the National Science Foundation.
We are recruiting Technology and Engineering Teachers for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school year. Participants receive a $2000 stipend, are endorsed as an AP teacher, and are provided with a classroom set of Birdbrain Technologies Hummingbird kits ($2800 value).
1. Attendees will learn about the how the ExCITE project aims to recruit and prepare a population of high school teachers that have never taught computer science before, thus increasing the potential pool of high school computer science teachers.
2. Participants will learn about the innovative free AP CSP curriculum that uses computer control and robotics to solve open-ended real world challenges.
3. Participants will be able to explore hands-on computer control/robotic resources and activities.
