Session description

Exploring Computation Integrated into Technology and Engineering (ExCITE) project aims to increase Technology and Engineering (T&E) students’ participation in Computer Science courses by training Technology & Engineering teachers to become AP CSP teachers, using an enhanced Beauty and Joy of Computing curriculum enhanced with computer control and robotic assignments.

Outline

I will show how Exploring Computation Integrated into Technology and Engineering (ExCITE) project has worked to engage some 4,000 Technology and Engineering (T&E) students’ in Computer Science courses, and has trained some 160 T&E teachers to become prime providers of CS instruction in the nation’s schools Funded by the National Science Foundation.
We are recruiting Technology and Engineering Teachers for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school year. Participants receive a $2000 stipend, are endorsed as an AP teacher, and are provided with a classroom set of Birdbrain Technologies Hummingbird kits ($2800 value).
