Session description

Middle schoolers show us how they want to be treated through their words and actions. Too often, we respond with management when they most need mentorship. This session introduces Wise Freedom, a framework that creates classroom conditions and schoolwide systems where adolescents thrive by pairing high standards with high support.

Outline

Opening Story (5 min)

Introduction (10 min): Present the Mentor’s Mindset within Wise Freedom—why accountability is a form of love and how mentorship reframes management.

Interactive Reflection (10 min): Participants plot current practices on a spectrum from control to permissiveness.

Scenario Analysis (20 min): Work through common classroom challenges comparing management versus mentorship responses.

Design Sprint (10 min): Groups redesign one classroom structure or routine through the lens of Wise Freedom and the Mentor’s Mindset.

Closing (5 min): Participants name a “first step” and post their commitments.
