Outline

Since this is a poster proposal and not a traditional session, the outline reflects the time that the facilitators anticipate each person will spend exploring the ideas presented (between 10-15 minutes). So the outline below will repeat multiple times throughout the 90-minute poster session.
The poster space will be designed to invite conversation and the sharing of ideas through a game. The facilitators will utilize their ASCD card deck, Quick Wins! Tips to Activate Inclusive Learning as the foundation of the discussion during the poster session.
5 minutes: Facilitators will invite individuals to choose a face-down strategy card (out of a field of 40 choices). The strategy cards will state an inclusive strategy educators should use in their classroom (for example, “Present with Auto Captions”).
5 minutes: The facilitator will discuss the strategy with the participant, asking about their familiarity with this concept. Once a common understanding is established, the facilitator and participant will exchange ideas about how to incorporate this strategy into their classroom and why it helps build an inclusive environment for all learners.
5 minutes: Brainstorm some examples of technology tools that can support this strategy. Participants will leave with a call to action that empowers them to incorporate inclusive design practices into their learning environments.
The facilitators believe that leading with the strategy is critical to empowering educators to think inclusively. The goal of this activity is not to learn as many technology tools as possible. Instead, the focus is on understanding what you are trying to achieve and the tools to help implement it.
