I. Welcome and Framing (10 minutes)
Content: Introduce the concept of confidence as the foundation of literacy growth. Share classroom context and student data highlighting challenges in Read Aloud fluency and vocabulary for multilingual learners.
Engagement:
-Quick poll or word cloud: “What builds student confidence?”
-Pair share: Participants discuss challenges in their own classrooms.
II. Exploring the Tools (25 minutes)
Content: Demonstrate the functionality and instructional application of Immersive Reader, Reading Practice, and Vocabulary.com. Highlight how each supports pronunciation, prosody, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Engagement:
-Device-based exploration: Attendees follow along on their own laptops or tablets.
-Quick “Try-It” challenge: read a short passage using Reading Practice; reflect on feedback.
-Group discussion on accessibility and differentiation.
III. Linking Tools to Growth Mindset (15 minutes)
Content: Connect feedback, reflection, and student choice to building a growth mindset and ownership of learning.
Engagement:
-Case example from classroom data.
-Think-pair-share: How can I encourage students to reflect and retry?
IV. Designing the Path to Confidence Action Plan (30 minutes)
Content: Guide participants through creating their personalized Path to Confidence Action Plan, integrating Read Aloud routines, vocabulary practice, and reflection prompts.
Engagement:
-Template provided (digital or printed).
-Participants design their plan in small groups and receive peer feedback.
V. Reflection and Sharing (10 minutes)
Content: Revisit the theme of empowerment and belonging in multilingual classrooms. Summarize key strategies aligned to ISTE Educator Standards (5a, 6a, 6b).
Engagement:
-Volunteers share one action step from their plan.
-Exit ticket: “One way I will build student confidence next week.”
*Audience Engagement Strategies Throughout:
- Frequent peer-to-peer discussions (every 15–20 minutes).
- Hands-on device use with all three tools.
- Visual modeling of classroom routines.
- Reflection prompts connecting technology to student mindset and outcomes.
Attendees will leave with a personalized Path to Confidence Action Plan that outlines concrete steps for integrating Immersive Reader, Reading Practice, and Vocabulary.com into their own literacy instruction. This plan will include a model Read Aloud routine, student reflection template, and goal-tracking framework to build fluency, vocabulary growth, and confidence through technology-supported practice.
