Event Information
Content and engagement: The presenters will cover Gemini Storybook, Robots (Indi, Beebot, Ozobot, etc), Art Integration, Soundscapes, and One Book One School. Presenters will post QR codes for each topic that provides access to resources and examples for participants to look through at their leisure. Though real-world examples will be provided, participants will also get hands-on experiences by testing out Gemini Storybook, completing coding activities, and experiencing a book with soundscapes.
Time: The time spent on each will be dependent on the participants and their interests. Presenters will allow conversations and time spent to be based on participant's needs.
Process: Participants will interact one on one with presenters. They will have the opportunity to speak peer-to-peer as they share ideas and learn from one another. Through QR codes they can interact with the content using their own device. The presenters will provide device-based activities, including robots, for participants.
After this session, participants will be able to prompt Gemini Storybook to create stories that are specific and relevant to their students. They will be given a variety of examples to encourage creativity. After this session, participants will also be able to design hands-on coding activities that allow students to show their understanding of a wide variety and range of literacy standards and skills. Participants will see examples of different robots and how they were easily aligned with grade-level standards and learning objectives. If they choose, participants will be able to brainstorm with the presenters to ensure they have actionable next steps to take with them to integrate coding, and literacy with their students. Finally, after this session, participants will be able to integrate one of the following innovative strategies showcased by the presenters: Soundscapes (including Novel Effect), Art Integration, and One Book One School. They will get to see how these strategies were used by the presenters and the benefits of using them with students. The participants will have the opportunity to speak directly with the presenters and benefit from their many years of experience working with teachers and students as Digital Integration Specialists.
