Overview of the Virtual Learning Community (VLC) model
Components of Tech My School’s VLC: TechSpectations site, asynchronous micro-courses, Tech Disruptors Competition hub
Planning templates and visual examples of implementation in schools
Coaching strategies that blend in-person and virtual support
How the Audience Will Be Engaged:
Attendees will explore printed visuals, infographics, and screenshots
Live demonstrations of tools (via laptop/tablet) will be available upon request
QR codes will link participants to editable resources and examples
Attendees will be invited to fill in a short planning template to begin outlining their own VLC
Open dialogue with the presenter to answer questions and adapt ideas to each visitor's school context
Time Distribution
0–10 min – Introduction & visual walkthrough of the VLC model
10–30 min – Live conversations, Q&A, tool demos, and participant exploration
30–45 min – Template co-design and peer conversation guided by presenter
45–60 min – Wrap-up conversations, resource access via QR codes, and takeaway reflection prompts
Engagement Tactics
Peer-to-peer dialogue prompted by visual prompts at the table
Device-based access to planning tools and templates via QR codes
Optional reflection question board: “What will your VLC look like?”
Printed takeaway: Quick-start guide for implementing a VLC at their site
After this session, participants will be able to design a basic structure for a Virtual Learning Community, identify tools and strategies to support scalable professional development, and access templates and planning resources to implement or adapt a VLC model in their own school or district context.
