Session description

In this rapid session, we’ll turn your standards into launch‑ready, student‑centered mini‑units using Canva’s Magic Activities, Canva Code for quick interactives, and templates—through a UDL lens. You’ll design authentic learning experiences that get students creating in Canva and ready to roll out right away.

Outline

1. Welcome, Premise, and Goals (3 Minutes)
-Share with participants that they will be creating a mini-unit that ties to one or two of their standards in this rapid workshop
-Quick informal poll to see who we have in the room (grade levels taught, subjects, classroom teachers or other role, etc.)

2. Lightening review of UDL (7 minutes)
-Quick review of the UDL Principles
-Pair-share: identify where you feel you could improve your lesson design with UDL

3. Canva Magic Activities (10 minutes)
- 2 min demo of Magic Activities feature in Canva with a few examples
-Participants try it out with their standard(s) in mind. Iterate as needed until they get a few activities generated that they would be able to use with their students as part of this mini unit.

4. Canva Code (10 minutes)
- 2 minute demo of Cana code with examples
-Participants try creating an interactive activity with Canva Code aligned to their standard(s)
-Share with a neighbor

5. Canva AI Other features (10 minutes)
-4 minute demo of Canva AI to design drafts, brainstorm ideas, and generate images
-Participants try out one or more of the other Canva AI features showcased that would support the design of their mini-unit.

6. Templates and Polls & Quizzes (3 minutes)
-3 minute demo of how to find high-quality templates and how to embed polls & quizzes for formative/pulse checks

7. Introduce Student Activity (5 minutes)
-Quick instruction on creating student projects with wide variety of options for students to choose from based on content and audience

8. Design time (10 minutes)
-Applying what they have learned participants will put finishing touches on their mini-unit and come up with guidelines for their student projects

9. Rapid Showcase (2 minutes)
-1 minute rapid showcase to a partner and then listen to their partner share.

Outcomes

Attendees will leave with a launch-ready mini‑unit aligned to their standards that leverages Canva templates, incorporates AI-generated activities (Magic Activities) and interactives (Canva Code), and includes a student project where learners create authentic learning artifacts.
