Session description

Discover how a media specialist and computer lab paraprofessional empower students to use AI as a creative partner, not a shortcut. Through projects like “AI Animal Creations” and “Superhero Stories,” this unique duo blends writing, creativity, and responsible AI use to spark imagination and amplify student voice.

Outline

Content and Engagement:
Our poster will showcase how a media specialist and a computer lab paraprofessional collaborated to integrate AI into creative writing projects. The display will include student samples, brainstorming templates, and AI-generated visuals from projects like AI Animal Creations and Superhero Stories. Attendees will learn how students developed ideas before using AI tools, keeping creativity and voice at the center of learning.

Engagement Activities:
Interactive Gallery: Attendees can view “before and after” student work (writing + AI visuals) to see how the process unfolded.

Collaboration Spotlight: The presenters (a media specialist and paraprofessional) will share strategies for co-planning, guiding students, and managing AI use responsibly in a K–5 environment.

Resource Takeaway: Attendees can scan a QR code to access lesson templates, reflection prompts, and sample student activities to adapt in their own schools.

Time and Flow:
Because attendees come and go throughout the session:

0–10 minutes: Welcome and overview of the “AI Imaginators” concept

Ongoing: Discussion with attendees, gallery walk of student examples, and short activity participation

Final 5 minutes (for each visitor): Reflection, sharing ideas, and scanning QR codes for digital takeaways

Process:
Engagement will occur continuously through one-on-one conversations and small-group interactions. Presenters will encourage visitors to share how they are using or plan to use AI with students, fostering peer-to-peer exchange and idea generation.
