Session description

This station explores how to guide students in using a Generative AI tool to support self-assessment of their work. The question we keep asking about AI in science education is whether the outputs are correct. That's the wrong question. The real question is: what judgment do students need to build in order to evaluate the feedback a machine gives them? Producing correct output and evaluating AI feedback are two different skills, and it's the second one I aim to teach. This research explores how students can strengthen their written work by using Generative AI as a thought partner.
