Session description

Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic throughout education and technology. However, many people are using it without really understanding what it is. We will discuss topics such as algorithms and the human interaction with coding and programming so that staff and students begin to understand what this topic actually means.

Purpose & objective

Participants will be able to begin to understand what Artificial Intelligence is (and isn’t) and how it can have impacts in a variety of ways in education. Discussion of some of the topics that factor into AI such as algorithms, human bias, coding, and language have an impact. Discussion of why teachers and staff members want to use AI for their own jobs and maybe are reluctant to use it with their students or allow their students to use it at all and how to bridge the two feelings will also be a main topic that will be discussed. Examples of some of the work we have done with students and staff members will be available prior to, during, and after the session on Ted's website www.ourtechcoach.com. Users will find resources not only for this session, but for other global projects that the team has worked on with educators around the world. Success will be determined by feedback surveys and anecdotal notes from conversation during the session.
