Session description
Purpose & objective
As a result of attending this session, participants will be given a full overview of utilizing drones for STEM/STEAM education from PreK - 12 grade and using drones for afterschool clubs and competitions. We will overview the curricula for each age group, assess the safety features of each type of drone, and provide a copy of the FUSD drone policy. We'll discuss current and future careers and college opportunities for drone and aerial photography pilots, review the costs of implementation, and debunk the perceived barriers to entry into drones for education.
I'll share Fresno Unified School District's success with our PreK-12 drone program in educating students and teachers about its uses for careers and preparation for our soon-to-open Aviation School and CTE Pathway. Over 70 of our 109 schools have participated in the drone program, and we'll be rolling our FPV Crone Racing as an esports to all 8 of our comprehensive high schools this fall. I'll have details on that rollout and it's success in providing career-ready skills at the time of the conference.
