I am a former high school student who interned with the Aurora Public Schools (APS) department of technology. I spoke on my experiences about how I managed to progress from internship to employment with APS and how my new position has reshaped my future.

Session description

This program is designed to provide students with a first step towards building a successful and fulfilling career. We understand the importance of continuous learning and growth. As an intern, the student will have access to various training programs, workshops, and resources to enhance their skills.

Purpose & objective

This Department of Innovation program has received positive feedback from all involved. Parents, teachers, and students. They have reported increased satisfaction with this learning experience Noting the effectiveness of learning technology within the working world and having the ability to apply some of the techniques learned.
Students demonstrated higher levels of participation in school tech discussions and collaborative activities. Helping the non-tech savvy parents in some cases get involved with the learning environment on campuses. We started the program to learn and grow our students. But noticed increased engagement and participation from the community and other departments within Aurora Public Schools. I believe the purpose of our presentation is to inform and show this untapped resource; our Students. We want to showcase their talent and show the benefits of this program to whoever attends. Hopefully they can take this and implement within their district.
