I have been working in K12 and HigherED for the past 40 years. I have been in classrooms, SPED Departments, and IT Departments. I have taught PE, English, and Instructional Technology. I have been a technology integrationist, instructional technologist, assistive technologist, and athletic director. For the past 4 years I was the technologist and assistive technologist at Hampshire College. I am now working as a consultant.

Session description

Discover ways Artificial Intelligence (AI) in classrooms improves learning experiences for students with disabilities. Explore assistive technology tools: electronic note-taking, screen readers, captioning, image recognition, and speech-to-text. Learn how AI can be used ethically and effectively to summarize, recognize images, adjust reading levels, differentiate, and personalize learning.

Purpose & objective

Technology tools I will share are: Kurzweil 3000 and Read the Web, Texthelp’s Read&Write, Glean electronic note taking, Chrome Voice Typing, Google Slides Captioning, EducationCopilot AI, MagicSchool, HyperWrite, Speechify, Goblin Tools, DiffIT, EduAide, ReadBit, and Twee.

I have used all of these tools with and for students that I have been working with this year. There may be new tools that I find in the next few months that I will add, as they are being developed so quickly.

I will give pricing and information on each tool that I share.
