Andrew is a passionate advocate for effective technology use in education. He teaches Social Studies, Video Production/Technology/Multimedia, and French at Holton Middle/High School. Andrew is also the district's 6-12 Staff Technology Integration Specialist and coaches MS Track & Field. Andrew has used Google products & a classroom Chromebook cart to create online, interactive lessons and go paperless. From engaging lessons using Virtual Reality to building custom Augmented Reality Sandboxes, he enjoys sharing ways to integrate STEAM topics into Social Studies and cutting-edge technologies into the classroom.

Session description

Come explore innovative AI-based applications and elevate your current lesson plans to significantly enhance teaching and learning in Social Studies. Participants will discover new techniques to digitize traditional activities like map creation and learn how to leverage generative AI to streamline lesson planning, engage student creativity, facilitate inquiry-based learning, and implement effective differentiation strategies. We will investigate methods for helping students make meaningful connections to Social Studies topics, bringing their learning to life in authentic and engaging ways.
