Dr. Mary Ehrenworth co-led a think tank on global literacy at Teachers College, Columbia University, for twenty years. She now runs Ehrenworth Literacy Innovations, working nationally and globally to empower teachers and students through critical literacies and collaborative inquiry. Her most recent research fields are AI and literacy, and vocabulary acquisition.

Critiquing with AI, Critiquing AI: Developing Critical Readers and Deepening Criticality

This session explores multimodal and multilingual strategies for using AI to deepen analysis, critique texts, and challenge misrepresentations and omissions of information in fiction and nonfiction. Moreover, we'll discuss how to teach students to critically evaluate AI-generated responses, encouraging active engagement rather than passive acceptance of AI interpretations.
