Session description

Cybersecurity impacts every part of our lives. We will discuss the planning and implementation of the new cybersecurity high school course that we have built including how we approached attracting and retaining students particularly those of underrepresented communities.

Outline

The following is a tentative outline assuming a 90-minute session and can be adjusted.
Welcome, engagement and introduction of “Cybersecurity Education in K-12 Schools: Attracting and Retaining Underrepresented Student Populations” Learning. (15 minutes)
Discussion of curriculum building and considerations for activities (20 minutes)
Discussion of outreach programs geared toward students and parents/guardians in conjunction with the greater community (20 minutes)
Participant Self-Discovery, hands-on opportunities with the curriculum, and Reflection (15 minutes)
Open Q&A (10 minutes)
Closure (10 minutes)
