Supporting research

Teachers experience career development in stages and mid-career teachers have different needs and experiences than new or late-career teachers [Burke et al. (1984 & 1987), Carstensen et al. (1999), Day et al. (2008 & 2012), Fessler and Christensen (1992), Huberman (1993), Lynn (2002), and Shavit et al. (2022) ]. Adults have different learning needs than children [Knowles (1972, 1973, 1984, 2020)], and value specific characteristics in facilitators [Shanteau (1992)]. Practitioner voice from grounded theory dissertation research led to the development of the Mid-Career Professional Development Design Framework [Reichel (2023)].
