Session description

This is an interactive workshop where participants will learn the tenets of coaching and begin to set up a coaching program for their school communities. Participants will take away resources and begin to develop a framework of resilience they can implement immediately in their school communities.

Outline

Introduction to the topic and preparation exercise: reason they are in the workshop - 2 minutes

Definitions and clarification of common language throughout the presentation - 1 minute

Explanation of the difference between coaching and mentoring - 2 minutes

Participant self-assessment (independent) - 5 minutes

Complete a needs assessment of school culture (independent) - 5 minutes

Presentation of how to coach others - presenter created materials to be shared with participants - 10 minutes

Coaching style activity and reflection in small groups - 10 minutes

In small groups, brainstorm school coaching needs and begin building training materials - 15 minutes

Q & A - 10 minutes
