Session description

This session will focus on cultivating self-directed students in a K-12 hybrid environment. Equip them with skills to create and implement personalized learning plans. Explore strategies for fostering autonomy, goal-setting, and self-monitoring. Emphasis is placed on practical techniques to build 21st-century skills: time management, problem-solving, and resilience.

Outline

Welcome & Introduction (5 minutes)
~Begin with an interactive Education Statistics Trivia segment. Present four questions related to education statistics, rewarding correct answers with small prizes to engage the audience.

OneSchool Global Vision and Organization (10 minutes)
~Deliver a PowerPoint presentation outlining the history and global reach of OneSchool Global, highlighting key milestones and locations.
~Audience Engagement: Ask participants if they are familiar with their own school’s mission statement and the history behind it, fostering connection and reflection.
~Present OneSchool Global’s mission statement, accompanied by an explanation of its development and significance.

Reimagining Learning and the Classroom (10 minutes)
~Show a video tour of one of OneSchool Global’s facilities, with a focus on the Learning Center and the use of flexible seating arrangements. Discuss how this environment promotes student agency and self-directed learning.

Learning to Learn Signature Pedagogy (20 minutes)
~Present the Learning to Learn Framework through a PowerPoint presentation, explaining the integration of technology and the breakdown of students’ learning experiences, including what they accomplish with teachers versus independently.
~Highlight how the framework supports students in developing personalized learning plans for their time in the Learning Center.
~Show a video titled "A Day in the Life of a Student", created by students to illustrate how the pedagogy works in practice and supports their typical school day.
~Continue the PowerPoint presentation by discussing how OneSchool Global ensures equity across 124 campuses, including the support provided to teachers through micro-credentialing, the Global Teacher Academy, and the quality assurance rubric for accountability in lesson planning.

Interactive Trivia on OneSchool Global (5 minutes)
~Engage the audience with three additional trivia questions related to OneSchool Global, with prizes awarded for correct answers.

Audience Q&A and Discussion (10 minutes)
~Open the floor for questions, inviting attendees to share any challenges they are currently facing that were not addressed.
~Encourage participants to ask for further clarification or additional insights to ensure they leave feeling confident in implementing the discussed strategies and practices.
