Event Information
The presentation on Exploring the Altars of the Dead: Cultural Significance and Personal Reflection will begin with a 10-minute introduction, sharing a personal anecdote to engage participants and inviting them to reflect on their own cultural practices. This will be followed by a 15-minute exploration of the historical origins and key elements of altars, utilizing visual aids and incorporating a think-pair-share activity. In another 15 minutes, we will discuss the cultural significance of altars, facilitating a group discussion and a sticky note reflection on personal connections to memory and heritage. The next 20 minutes will focus on creating culturally respectful altars, where participants will work in small groups to design their altars based on inspiration from traditional examples. Sharing and reflecting will take 10 minutes, with participants presenting their designs in a gallery walk format to foster discussion. Finally, the session will conclude with a summary of key points and an open floor for questions, encouraging attendees to share actionable takeaways for their educational practices. Throughout the presentation, peer-to-peer interaction, hands-on activities, and visual aids will keep participants actively engaged.
