Session description

This session will introduce participants to mixed reality simulations and examine how it can be used to enhance teacher candidates’ social emotional competencies. Participants will share how student outcomes were aligned with ISTE standards to address the holistic needs of teacher candidates and their learners.

Outline

Content - Participants will be provided the following:
- a brief clip of mixed reality simulation
-an outline of the mixed reality simulation scenario
-a copy of the survey disseminated to teacher
candidates
- SEL crosswalk sheet for participants to complete while they watch the video clip
Time -
Introduction of participants (2 minutes)
Introduction Mixed Reality Simulation (3 minutes)
Rationale for embedding SEL for teacher candidates via Mixed Reality Simulations (2 minutes)
Video Clip of teacher candidate in a mixed reality simulation (4 minutes)
Time Allotted for Participants to complete the SEL Crosswalk for the Simulation (2 minutes)
Small Group Discussion (2 minutes)
Whole Group Discussion (8 minutes)
