Session description

In this dynamic session designed for school leaders, we will explore how educational organizations can effectively translate legislative mandates into actionable best practices. Participants will gain insights into the latest developments impacting educational technology and how to implement these changes to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Outline

Introduction (10 minutes)- Grabbing attention.
-Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me… Three policies. One true policies.
-Case study on successful and not so successful policy development and implementation

The Why? The importance of education practice with legislative requirements (15 mins)
-“Initiatives are fickle” laws are not; people come and go but the laws stay the same
-Money is attached to legislation; grants, RFPs have specific language
-“Code comes first”

The Who? Process- Give a model/fake policy to work on in groups. (15 minutes)
-Who’s on your team? Nonprofits, public entities aligned with the goals of the legislation, who’s NOT on there
-Discussion of solutions the groups have found and best practices on communicating with and building coalitions

The How? (15 minutes) What Resources Do You Have? Groups discuss resources and how to implement their model/fake policy
Discussion of solutions the groups have found and best practices on messaging, outreach and targeting your audience
