Session description

Attendees will learn how to create concise and captivating videos that are 30 seconds or less. Attendees will discover essential techniques for planning, capturing, and editing video content. From storyboarding to background music, this workshop will equip attendees with tools to produce viral-worthy videos for their classroom.

Outline

Introduction (5 min)
-Begin with a short video montage of viral 30-second clips to capture attention.
-Pose the question: "What makes a video captivating in just 30 seconds?"
-Facilitate a brief discussion encouraging participants to share their thoughts and experiences with short videos.

Demonstration (20 min)
-Use a demonstration to show how to storyboard a quick video idea.
-Discuss capturing techniques with a live demonstration using a smartphone.
-Demonstrate live editing with music and video clips.

Practice Capturing Videos(10 min)
-Break into small groups and brainstorm ideas for a 30-second video, creating a simple storyboard for their concept.
-Provide example prompts to guide their brainstorming: "A day in the life," "A quick how-to," or "A funny skit."
-Presenters circulate among groups to monitor progress and provide feedback, asking guiding questions to deepen their understanding (e.g., "How does your storyboard support your main message?").

Practice Video Editing (15 min)
-Each participant will film and edit their 30-second video based on their storyboards created
-Remind them to incorporate at least one editing technique and background music.

Reflection (10 min)
-Conclude with a sharing session where students showcase their videos to the class.
-Facilitate a group discussion reflecting on the techniques learned and what made certain videos stand out.
