Event Information
The session will be delivered via an interactive Pear Deck which allows participants to have direct access to links and activities as well as give feedback to the presenter.
For maximum engagement and learner growth, the presentation is planned using the ATLAS model, from Weston's Kieschnick's The Educator's ATLAS (2022).
Details:
-Attention (5-7 min): Using an Instructor-Led Pear Deck, participants will answer questions and watch a brief video to introduce the power of students leading their own learning and the work of Catlin Tucker and Katie Novak.
-Transition (2 min): “Use UDL and technology to empower students to lead their own learning.”
-Lesson (15-20 min): Review of the UDL 3.0 Guidelines and the importance of learner agency. Share how discovery learning empowers students and how technology helps with this. Share information about goal-setting, metacognition, reflection, self-assessment, and feedback.
-Activity (15 min): Participants will use resources in the Pear Deck to do their own discovery of one of the following areas: goal-setting, metacognition, reflection, self-assessment, and feedback. Pear Deck will be in student-paced mode for this portion of the interactive presentation. Participants will have resources to explore including examples of these strategies.
-Summation (5-10 min): Participants will share the strategy they chose to explore via Chat and Pear Deck.
