Session description

Come test drive some incredible AI tools that streamline the inquiry process for Social Studies and Science! Deconstruct complex societal issues and challenging topics and expand critical thinking skills by creating AI experts for students to consult. Equip your students with the skills they need to contribute to future solutions.

Outline

--(5-7 mins.) Introduction / Why use AI?
--(5-7 mins.) What is the Inquiry Process? Similarities between Social Studies & Science?
--(2-3 mins.) Review Action Plan -- Steps toward success
--(2-3 mins.) Setting the Stage -- Inquiry Question → AI Applications
--(3-4 mins.) Review possible AI biases / pitfalls & why equity in AI is so important to consider
--(4-5 mins.) Peer-to-peer → Brainstorm Inquiry questions in each subject area
--(5 mins.) AI tools to break down the steps involved in each Inquiry topic
--(7 mins.) Become an “AI Whisperer” -- Participants use devices to design an engaging AI prompt
--(8-10 mins.) Practice putting prompts into AI tools, testing, and tweaking for better results
--(5-7 mins.) Participants’ chance to share their prompts collaboratively
--Bonus / if time → Using AI art to help visualize results!
--Contest! → Best audience submissions will be chosen to win a prize!
