Session description

This session shares how artificial intelligence can streamline the curriculum design process to craft curricula that are responsive to student needs and aligned with educational standards and school priorities. During this session, participants will examine how AI can effectively create personalized, adaptive, and meaningful learning experiences for their students.

Outline

Participants will collaborate in small groups to analyze AI-generated curriculum examples, focusing on how effectively they address student learning needs. After reviewing and annotating the provided examples, participants will apply the "Connect, Extend, Question" thinking routine to reflect on their own district's or school's curriculum. They will then identify actionable steps for integrating AI to enhance their curriculum development process.

Introductory Activity (10 min): Participants will create a list of desired outcomes for their students and the challenges they face in using curriculum to achieve these goals. They will share and discuss their reflections in small groups to foster collaborative thinking.

Input and Processing Activity (30 min): The presenter will share how AI can enhance curriculum design and improve student learning experiences by streamlining the development process.
In small groups, participants will annotate an AI-generated curriculum example for one of the following:
- Aligns with multiple standards and school priorities
- Incorporates research-based, student-centered learning strategies
- Personalizes content to increase meaningfulness and engagement
- Generates responsive instructional strategies that meet diverse student learning needs
Each group will share their findings from the examination with the larger group.

Making Connections Activity (20 min): Participants will connect their insights to their own curriculum by reviewing their annotations. They will engage in a discussion using the "Connect, Extend, Challenge" thinking routine to reflect on next steps for integrating AI into their curriculum work.
