Session description

Every year, there are intentional committees dedicated to improving and influencing campus culture on campuses across the world. We want our teachers and staff to feel appreciated and seen. Cultivating campus culture promotes retention and a positive work environment. Work together to cultivate sunshine, gratitude, and retention on your campus.

Outline

5-10min Opening: Think about the ways or events on your campus within the last 4 months that you remember. What stuck out to you? What was the overarching theme of these events?

5min Think and write down 3 events or activities that were your least preferred and a word to describe these events. What stuck out to you here?

5min Every single one of us wants to retain our staff year to year. To do that, we have to be intentional about how we support and cultivate our campus culture to support a variety of styles and retain our staff. How do we do this? Where do we go from here?

15 min How we can support our campus cultures year after year:
+ Be intentional about what your staff prefers and likes.
+ Build relationships and cultivate gratitude within teams and across campus teams to build collegial relationships.
+ Pour into the hearts of your teachers and staff by being intentional for them.
+ What have you done to support staff on your campus/building?
+ Table talk
+ Share out and collaborate

10-15min It is not all about money though. Ways to build up your campus/building without costing an arm and a leg.
+ Donations
+ Use your campus connections
+ Think big, remember your budget
+ Think through a draft first
+ Peer to peer collaboration to discuss cost-effective ways to build up culture

5-10min Wrap up: It's not what you do, it's the memory people take with them. Be intentional and cultivate sunshine for others to remember.
