Session description

Merge EDU provides hands-on augmented reality experiences that engage students in STEM & science concepts with digital 3D objects and simulations they can touch, hold, and interact with. In this session, you will discover the all new Merge Creator app, and how it lets students 3D scan physical objects or upload their own 3D models, and turn them into augmented reality experiences they can hold or place in the world! Students can also add multimedia labels like video, audio, photo, and text labels to provide more information about their objects. Follow along with this hands-on lesson that you can do with your students in the fall! All attendees will get a free Merge Cube and extended free trial.

Outline

Content, Activities & Process:

-Students upload a 3D model they have already created, or use the 3D scanner integrated into Merge Creator app to add a digital model to the app.
-Students then add multimedia labels to their object, including audio, video, photo, and text labels, to share more information or explain their thinking behind each object.
-Students edit how their object thumbnail appears, as well as how objets appears on the Merge Cube + when placed in the real world.
-Students hold and view objects using the Merge Object Viewer app
-Students record their screen to present their projects, then turn that in as an assessment

Time:
Total Lesson Length: 45 - 1 hour, depending on whether a complete uploaded object was added, or if students used the 3D scanner to add their digital 3D model.
