Session description

Now more than ever, reaching and meeting the needs of students, families, and your school is difficult. Podcasting can play many roles within a classroom to meet those varied needs. We will work with attendees to create a podcast platform for their classroom that fits a variety of purposes to support students, families, and fellow educators. From there, they will create an initial podcast to introduce themselves to the world. Attendees will learn how to push out their podcasts to various listening platforms and promote their episodes.

Outline

We will start with a brief introduction to the interactive session. (Five minutes.)

Attendees start from a common point, sharing reasons for podcasting, working at various stations, and breaking into groups based on those reasons. (Ten Minutes)

Attendees will sign up or sign in to free podcast accounts using a computer or mobile device. (Five minutes.)

Attendees will record a short podcast message introducing their podcast to the world and upload it to their hosting site. (Fifteen minutes.)

Attendees will connect their podcasts to the various aggregators available and begin using social media to promote their new efforts. (Ten minutes.)

Ending with a question-and-answer session for the remainder of the session, we will move about the room working with the groups, facilitating efforts while answering questions.

Attendees will be encouraged to collaborate. We will model the process projecting the steps using available technology in the session room.
