AI as Connector: Building Human-Centered STEAM Communities in Underserved Schools

In underserved communities, students are too often excluded from high-quality STEAM experiences that support both academic success and social-emotional growth. This problem of practice addresses the urgent need to redesign learning spaces where students feel seen, valued, and prepared for future opportunities. By integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with Artificial Intelligence (AI), this work creates human-centered STEAM environments that prioritize connection, equity, and access. AI is leveraged to personalize instruction, reduce learning barriers, and support diverse learners, while SEL strengthens student identity, collaboration, and confidence. Through real-world, project-based learning and community partnerships, students engage in meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning to STEM careers. This approach redefines AI as a connector! Bridging gaps between students, educators, and opportunities.While empowering learners to thrive academically, socially, and professionally in an ever-evolving world.
