Session description

Students design and build an interactive communication board using Arduino, which can be used by people with speech or motor disabilities. The board can have large, easy-to-press buttons that, when activated, emit pre-recorded sounds or phrases, aiding communication for non-verbal people.

Outline

The project focuses on empowering students as digital citizens and creators of knowledge, fostering their creativity and critical thinking through programming and electronics. At the same time, it promotes social inclusion and care for the environment, enabling students to understand and apply sustainability principles in their immediate environment.
This project not only educates students in technical skills, but also sensitizes them to the importance of creating solutions that benefit the entire community, including those with visual, motor or neurodivergent disabilities.
Students will interact with the audience by showing a video where the communication board will be shown, first when constructing it and then being used by our neurodiverse community.
Time of person to person presentation, about 5 minutes.
