Session description

Co-design invites teachers to collaborate with students to shape their learning experiences. This talk will show how through co-design students become active partners in developing projects, lesson plans, and school-wide initiatives in ways that harness creativity and agency, yielding learning that is engaging, relevant, and meaningful.

Outline

This proposed 30-minute turbo talk will showcase case examples of young people co-designing games and learning experiences. Through story telling and game play, Dr. Rivers will describe and enact the principles of co-design that support young people's social emotional skill-building and wrestling with complex, relevant real world challenges to imagine solutions together. The talk will be ⅓ story telling, ⅓ gameplay, and ⅓ articulation of principles and sharing of resources.
