Session description

Will AI kill creativity, or democratize it? Can experts really tell if artwork is AI-generated? How can creatives shape AI's ethical future before it's too late? Meet me at the technology/creativity crossroads to talk about these big questions. I'll bring plenty of "receipts" and prompts for everyone.

Outline

CONTENT

This talk would be structured around "Amanda's Audacious AI Assertions" - 8 thesis statements that I've developed through working in both educational technology and the performing arts, with the time spaced fairly equally throughout:

1. AI use will soon be assumed in creative work.
2. The AI Revolution feels monumental because of its speed and visibility (not because its amount of change is unprecedented).
3. AI democratizes creativity, in the same way that "web 2.0" tools democratized knowledge.
4. Creatives must engage with AI to influence its ethical development.
5. Much criticism of AI from creatives results from a lack of experience or understanding of the tools.
6. Prompt engineering is a critical creative skill.
7. AI creates work at a "B- Baseline" and everyone can use that fact to simplify workflows and maximize their output.
8. Creatives who master AI will lead the future of innovation.

Within the framework of these 8 statements, I would also share takeaways like:
- Prompting templates
- Screenshot examples of my own ChatGPT usage
- Recommended AI tools
- Case Studies
- Examples of AI-created work

ENGAGEMENT

Throughout the talk, I'd have some sort of "pulse check" where attendees could indicate digitally how much they agree or disagree with each statement, along with other digital polling and quiz opportunities.
