Session description

In this session, we will explore the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the middle school language arts classroom that are specifically tailored for exceptional learners. Attendees will gain insights into how AI can support differentiated instruction, enhance student engagement, and foster creativity.

Outline

Introduction (5 minutes)
Content: Overview of the session objectives and agenda.
Engagement: Icebreaker activity where participants share their comfort level/experiences with AI in education.
Process: Choose one word to describe your comfort level with AI; share with a neighbor, share out with whole group.

Understanding Exceptional Learners (5 minutes)
Content: Discuss the unique needs of exceptional learners in the language arts classroom.
Engagement: Group discussion on challenges faced by exceptional learners.

Introduction to AI Tools (15 minutes)
Content: Overview of AI tools used and real-time feedback platforms.
Engagement: Work samples of AI tools, including video.

Addressing Challenges (10 minutes)
Content: Discuss potential challenges of using AI in the classroom.

Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment (15 minutes)
Content: Strategies for ensuring equity and inclusivity when using AI tools.
Process: Individual reflection followed by group sharing.
