Danielle's passion for educational technology began in 1997 when all she had access to was a computer in a closet of the media center with Internet. As a former technology coach, DEN STAR, DEN Leader and member of other educational organizations, she has learned the power of networking. Danielle collaborates with Heather on various classroom activities throughout the year. She has presented at FETC, SCEDTech, GAETC, Creative Constructor and ISTE for the last 20 years.

Debbie Bohanan has taught for over 30 years in Osceola County, FL. She has worked with students from K-12 grade. She is currently teaching digital video at an at-risk school for students in grades 8-12. Debbie holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a master’s degree in Education Media Design and Technology, is a national board certified teacher for over 20 years, ESOL Endorsed and certified in Technology (6-12). Her networks include the Discovery Educator Network and Leadership Council, MIE, TIE, Nourished Teachers and the ISTE Digital Storytelling Network. Janet is an educational technology consultant with experience as a classroom teacher, instructional technology coordinator, and adjunct professor. Her passion for assisting educators learn new strategies for successfully integrating technology into their curriculum has provided her with many opportunities to present at national, state, and local conferences and in school districts throughout the United States. She has co-authored four books on technology integration and professional development. Janet served in various positions for the TCEA Board of Directors and was awarded ISTE’s Making It Happen award given to leaders in educational technology. In this role, he works with K12 students, teachers, and leaders of education and policy in schools, districts, and states, helping them grasp why and how to take advantage of Esri's offer of software and learning resources free to K12 schools for instructional use. Prior to Esri, Charlie taught social studies in grades 7-12 for 15 years, mostly 8th grade geography.

Georgia Terlaje has taught for 34 years and is currently and instructional coach for Palm Springs Unified. She has used digital storytelling as an instructional strategy for 12 years and has presented on the topic at both regional and national conferences. She was also instrumental in creating PSUSD’s first elementary film festival that is now in it’s 4th year. Georgia is also a teacher-consultant for DIGICOM Learning. In this role, she is a lead instructor for professional development courses for teachers in the area of digital storytelling. Georgia has a digital storytelling podcast, “Storytelling Saves the World”.

Session description

Come play and explore multiple formats/genres of digital storytelling and tools that make magic happen. Interact with cross-curricular activities that inspire creativity and complex thinking and that guide students to discover that stories can be found everywhere. Learn how to foster the power of story and lead students to meaningful, purposeful products!

Purpose & objective

Purpose:
Provide attendees with a rich experience in the power of story and the higher level thinking and planning required to produce a final DigStrTelling product. Provide attendees an opportunity to explore multiple formats, genre, tools, and applications through the presentations and interactive sandbox provided at the Digital StoryTelling Playground.

Objectives:
Attendees will:
• have a better understanding that StoryTelling is a the heart of the Digital StoryTelling process and it is more than just a multimedia production.
• recognize the power of story and how it elevates learning with sticking power
• recognize how storytelling done digitally involves higher order thinking, planning and critical evaluation throughout the entire process.
• recognize that stories can be found everywhere
• have access to numerous activities and ideas they will be able to implement with their students
• have access to resources to assist them in the Digital StoryTelling process
• experience numerous genre and tools used in the DigStrTell process
