Session description

Domains, blockchains and the IoT, oh my! As our world grows increasingly digital, new vocabulary enters our schools. We know how to access the internet, but do we truly know how it works? In this session, we’ll learn the lingo of the internet and resources to help educate our students.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this presentation is to increase the capacity of participants' knowledge in the area of computer literacy. With the growing amount of computer-based applications and digital encounters, stakeholders in education must understand how these systems work so they, in turn, can help students understand how to become productive and informed digital citizens. Participants will leave with a working knowledge of several digital literacy terms and resources that can be used with students to help them learn more. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and guide the presentation's content while voting in real-time. When they leave, participants will have access to edit and contribute to a crowdsourced glossary of terms and resources related to computer literacy.
