Outline

COVID- 19 has changed the paradigm of education. Digital apps, once an option, have become mandatory. Children use mobile phones, tablets, and social media excessively. The challenge is to direct them to utilize their time productively. This activity was a path forward for cognitive and metacognitive development through eBooks.
Through the poster presentation, I plan to share my experience of introducing eBooks in a Pakistani school in Abu-Dhabi (UAE). We introduced eBooks (through Oxford Owl and British Council Learn English Kids) as a fun activity during and after COVID -19 to productively engage students digitally and develop their interest in reading.
It will be a peer-to-peer interaction where I will first give an overview of how the UAE Education ministry dealt with the COVID -19 pandemic (10 min). Second, we will discuss how the school abruptly shifted to online classes and which technology tools we were generally using(10 min). Third, I will discuss how students and their parents were facilitated through teaching-learning, well-being guidelines, and resources (10 min). Then, to develop an interest in digital reading, how fun activities were designed using Open Access Resources (Oxford Owl and British Council Learn English Kids)(10min). I will showcase using my laptop the access to the book(10 min). Finally, I will respond to the questions of attendees (10min).
